Toddler Room

Our toddler room is spacious with natural light and is suitable for up to fifteen children.  We discuss with parents/carers whether or not a child should be placed in the baby or toddler room. It accommodates children from walking to 3 years old and has sleeping facilities for children if required by parents/carers.

The room has both cushion flooring and carpet. The carpeted area is used for story time, and quieter activities. It also provides an area where children can sleep if necessary. The cushion floor area is used for messy and creative activities. It is also used for meal times.

The toddlers have access to their own toilet facilities. This encourages independence, and staff will supervise them at all times.

Children in the toddler room work within the new national educational framework called Early Years Foundation Stage.  This is based on 4 themes which are:

1) A unique child

2) Positive relationships

3) Enabling environment

4) Learning and development

These themes form the basis of our planning. We produce yearly, monthly, weekly and daily plans for activities undertaken by the children.  All parents/carers are welcome to view these plans.
