Pre-School Room

Our aim, in this room, is to prepare children for when they go to school full time so that they have the confidence and sufficient independence to fully embrace the next stage of their life.

Our Managers visited local primary schools and modeled the routine of the pre-school room to mirror that of the reception class.  Although this routine is still structured to provide plenty of opportunities for play, we feel your child is more likely to thrive in a familiar environment.

As you would expect from a teaching nursery, we make use of an Early Years Specialist teacher to keep us abreast of new developments in education, ensuring your child will be well prepared for school.

To promote independence and increasing responsibility, children serve their own food, help tidy and pack toys away, take responsibility for their personal hygiene and are given more freedom in choosing activities.  They still have a key person who is responsible for promoting their development, but we take more of a lead from the child.

The Pre-School children are split into three learning groups: Buzzy Bees, Ladybirds and Butterflies.  Each group is led by a different key person and this allows us to give more individual attention to the children’s specific developmental needs.  Group times throughout the day include discussion activities, letter and sounds work and story and singing times, again mirroring the school day.

We are keen to encourage regular use of ICT equipment and the children have daily access to a computer with a variety of games.  Our large ‘Smart’ Board in the Escape Room is used for both large and small group times and we have a programmable toy, a Bee Bot, which the children use to develop their problem solving, reasoning and numeracy skills.

Physical activities, both inside and out, are encouraged, promoting regular exercise and also team work. Lots of praise and love ensure all feel valued.
