Meals

Throughout the Nursery we promote the 5 a day principle and healthy eating. We try to make meal times as enjoyable as possible. From experience we understand that a lot of children are fussy eaters. We do our best to encourage children to try a wide variety of food and often just being with other children and seeing them eating is positive encouragement.  We will never force a child to eat what they refuse to eat; instead we promote the happy social atmosphere, focusing on  social interactions to help improve a child’s eating habits.  Our cook is very understanding and will often prepare different menus for children who have particular dislikes.

Baby’s bottles: We ask that you provide your baby’s prepared bottle feed which will be stored in our fridge.  We will fit their main meals in with parents/carers requirements.

The following will be prepared in our kitchen by our cook:

Breakfast: - Cereal, toast and juice or milk (provided).

Lunch: - A varied and nutritious home cooked meal and dessert.

Afternoon Tea: - This meal is provided as an in-between before the child has their evening meal at home. A typical meal will consist of sandwiches, cakes or biscuits, fruit and yoghurt.

Drinks: - A drink is provided with all meals.  The children can also have as many drinks as they wish throughout the day.  We provide water and cups in both the toddler and preschool rooms.

Snacks: - Milk, chopped vegetables, fruit and savoury snacks are provided twice a day.

When your child starts nursery you will be asked to fill out a personal information sheet. This will alert us to any food allergies and special diets.
